Self-Guided Audio Tour & Admission

INCLUDED:

Entrance to the Geothermal Exhibition and a Self-Guided Audio Tour.

Situated inside of the Hellisheiði Power Plant, the Geothermal Exhibition showcases the utilization of geothermal energy in Iceland. The Hellisheiði Power Plant is the largest geothermal plant in Iceland, owned and operated by ON Power. Here we produce electricity for Iceland's national grid and hot water for the capital region.

Learn about the production and distribution of the plant, Iceland's geology, geothermal activity, and the different innovation projects happening in and around the power plant. Visitors can also see inside of the turbine halls of the plant and feel the power from the steam turbines as they produce electricity. From our viewing platforms, pipe systems, steam regulators, separation tanks, and cooling towers can be seen.

Iceland's usage of geothermal resources is a fantastic example of how geothermal energy can be utilized in a sustainable manner, and is a showcase for the role that geothermal energy can play in a renewable and sustainable future.

We are situated 25 km from Reykjavík, and are on the way to both the Golden Circle and South Iceland.
